This article gives great tips about how to choose the healthiest meals when you are eating out in a restaurant. They are good tips to apply to cooking at home, too. From thinking wisely about cooking methods (frying vs. steaming) to skipping the bread, you’ll find that it is very easy to eat a healthy meal, no matter which restaurant you choose. I don’t eat wheat or dairy and I can pretty much find something to eat no matter where we go. people think it must be so hard, because wheat and dairy are in everything, but you’d be surprised at the yummy dishes I have gotten to experience without cheating.

You can well imagine how much I agree with the sentiments of this article. I love my dog like crazy; he is my hiking companion, my cuddle bug (yes, he is an 80-lb. lap dog!), my protector (especially frorm that very scary mailman!) and my most loyal friend. When I hike, I feel sorry for the people I pass who are hiking alone — everyone should have a dog!
I also cannot say enough about adopting a dog. We got Guinness 7 years ago from Buddy Dog in Sudbury. Yes, he was a crazy, 5-month old puppy who didn’t understand lots of things about love and kindness at first, but with love and patience, we are very proud of the dog we have raised and we know that we saved his life and he has added more than we can express to ours.
So I guess my message today is get a dog — for your health, state of mind and to completely enrich your life in every way.

This gorgeous oil is sooooo special, wait until you try it! It is produced in French Polynesia and has been used for generations as a skin and hair oil there. Testing in France has shown it to be more hydrating than coconut oil, jojoba and even shea butter! It is even said to be effective on wrinkles!
The really great part is that it is made with macerated gardenia flowers (called “Tiki” scent), so the scent is pure heaven! There are some inferior Monoi de Tahiti’s out there that are simply coconut oil with synthetic fragrances added. This one is the real deal — completely natural and organic with the paperwork to prove it.
We have the following Monoi de Tahiti products currently available:
Tiki Butter
3 oz. for 14.50
Tiki Soap
4 oz. for 8.00
Tiki Gift Set
3 oz. butter and 4 oz. soap for 20.00, in a pretty package!

Pasta with Asparagus
By mistake, I cooked the broccoli last night that was supposed to go in our roasted veggie pasta tonight –oops! But serendipity worked in our favor tonight, b/c this yummy recipe was created.
1 lb. cooked penne (I use brown rice pasta)
2 sun dried tomato chicken sausages, chopped and sauteed
4 slices prosciutto
1 bunch asparagus, chopped into bite-sized pieces
2 onions
sun dried tomatoes (about 1/2 of a bag of dried ones) reconstituted in water (reserve water) and chopped
kalamata olives to taste
fresh rosemary to taste, chopped (we used about 2 TB)
for sauce:
sun dried tomato water
1 c. white wine
1 TB balsamic vinegar
Roast asparagus and onions with sea salt, freshly ground black pepper and extra virgin olive oil in the oven for about 1/2 hour at 375 (we do 350 convection). Toss with all other ingredients and extra virgin olive oil.
Use wine to deglaze pan that the sausages were cooked in. Add sun dried tomato water and balsamic vinegar and boil down until there is about a cup and a half of liquid left. Add this to pasta mixture, toss well and serve with goat cheese crumbles. Delicious!
